Tottenham Hotspur fans have been ruing the departure of Fernando Llorente, with his contract in north London expiring on Sunday.
Transfermarkt state that the 6 ft 4 Spaniard’s deal ran out on June 30th, and there has been no confirmed news of the club deciding to offer him an extension.
Llorente, of course, enjoyed a strong 2018/19 campaign that saw him bag eight goals and five assists, and played a crucial role in the Champions League as Spurs reached the final for the first time in their history.
Indeed, despite being Harry Kane’s deputy for the majority of his Spurs career, Llorente scored the winning goal in the quarter-final versus Manchester City and also played an integral part in the semi-final comeback against Ajax, coming off the bench to help Spurs overturn a 2-0 deficit to win 3-2 in Amsterdam.

He also played nine minutes of the final as Spurs lost 2-0 to Liverpool and supporters were sharing their thoughts on the situation on Sunday amid the Spaniard’s last official day as a Spurs player, with many believing the club have made a mistake in letting him go.
Spurs, after all, have yet to acquire a striker this summer and, after Llorente’s departure, Mauricio Pochettino is left with Vincent Janssen as Kane’s only like-for-like deputy.
