According to the Mirror, West Brom midfielder Rekeem Harper is of interest to Liverpool, Tottenham and Juventus as the expiry date on his contract gets closer.
What’s the word, then?
Well, the Baggies academy graduate made 16 first-team appearances last season in the Championship as West Brom qualified for a play-off spot, only to lose to Midlands rival Aston Villa in the semi-finals.
Regardless of that result, Harper showed some of his potential by managing to score one goal and record one assist – doing so at the age of just 19.
The fans in the video below had some very strong words for Michel Platini who was detained over alleged corruption this week…
His performances have attracted the interest of three top European clubs in Liverpool, Tottenham and Juventus, and new boss Slaven Bilic will have a job on his hands in convincing the teenager to stay.
Will be extremely tough to keep him
For a 19-year-old who has just played his first senior season in professional football, it will be extremely difficult for Harper not to have his head turned by interest from the champions of Europe, the Italian title winners and last season’s Champions League finalists.
There is just a week remaining on the teenager’s contract at the Hawthorns, and it will likely require a monumental effort to convince the academy graduate to commit his future with so many major sides interested in his services.
Former West Ham boss Bilic is said to be keen on holding contract talks with Harper in a bid to get him to stay, but with two of Europe’s biggest clubs chasing the 6 ft midfield prospect, it looks as if he will have to perform a minor miracle.
The Baggies will at least be due a small compensation fee if Harper departs because he is their academy product, but that may be all they get with three heavyweights vying for his signature.
