Fans debate Kane's penaltyKane set Euros record with the equaliserXavi Simons handed Netherlands the leadWHAT HAPPENED?
The Dutch drew first blood through a brilliant Xavi Simons strike in the seventh minute of the second Euro 2024 semi-final, however, Denzel Dumfries' challenge on Kane inside the penalty box led to England being awarded a penalty from which the captain equalised in the 18th minute.

As the Three Lions won the spot-kick after a VAR check, fans on social media fiercely debated the legitimacy of the decision.
Sarah accused Kane of play acting inside the box as she wrote: "Kane, acting as if he broke his foot, then scoring a penalty with that same foot three minutes later from a penalty that was overruled with no clear and obvious error, sums up everything that's wrong with modern football! Not A Penalty! Football Is Corrupt!"
Andrew Bartlett, on the other hand, felt that the penalty was the right call as he wrote: "I agree with Ian Wright. Didn't think it was a penalty on the first watch, but when I saw the replay I thought there was a decent case that it was reckless – Dumfries isn't trying to play the ball, he's trying to put his body in the way of the shot by raising his studs."
Laurie argued that the England captain had already kicked the ball before Dumfries struck him as she wrote: "You might as well tell defenders they can’t defend any more. Kane has already hit the ball. Genuinely one of the worst penalty decisions I’ve ever seen."
A handle named RacingnFootballinsight backed the referee's decision while calling out ex-England stars and pundits Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher for their criticism of the English side as X post read: "It's DANGEROUS!!!! End of…. 'license for a defender' ….to act dangerously Mr Neville? @GNev2 You and Carra need to get off the back of this England team."
McNicoll, however, argued that it was Kane who hit Dumfries first as he wrote: "Wow. Never a penalty in a hundred million years. Kane kicked the defender and the defender gets booked to boot. Mental."

While the penalty call remains a topic of debate for fans and pundits, Kane achieved a unique record with his equaliser as he became the all-time top scorer in the men's European Championship's knockout stage with six goals to his name.
